Join us for the Subaru Honor Ride & Run

On Sunday June 7, C.A.R.E. Volunteers will be out in force to support Evanston Subaru in Skokie's Honor Ride & Run. We'll be manning registration, support tables and welcoming everyone back at the end of the race. No animals will be present, but you can always talk to our volunteers about our adoptables and the important work we do for the community.

C.A.R.E.'s Pet Food Pantry

C.A.R.E. has partnered with the Irving Park Community Food Pantry since 2011 to supply pet food and supplies for cats and dogs, but also for smaller pets such as birds, ferrets, hamsters, etc. This program ensures that animals are not entering shelters because of financial reasons. We are helping families keep their beloved pets, which is good for the families, the animals and the community. Each week, we help anywhere from 50 to 80 pet owners. We also provide advice regarding pet health and low-cost spay/neuter and vet services.

If you'd like to volunteer or donate to this important cause, read more about the Pet Food Pantry.

Support C.A.R.E. on #GivingTuesday - #ILGiveBig

C.A.R.E. is proud to participate in #GivingTuesday by joining the #ILGiveBig initiative!

We give thanks on Thanksgiving, go to the mall on Black Friday, and browse the web on Cyber Monday. Now, we have a day dedicated to giving back. On #GivingTuesday (this year on December 2), nonprofits, families, businesses, and students around the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

In Illinois, Donors Forum is coordinating this initiative -- #ILGiveBig -- and we have one bold goal: $12 million raised by Illinois nonprofits from 100,000 individual donors -- in one day.

Become a C.A.R.E. Foster Parent

Help C.A.R.E. by becoming a foster parent

Thank you for your interest in opening your home and heart to an animal in need! Foster care providers are vital to assisting the animals most in need of special care. Community Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.™) recognizes this need and is working to build a dedicated force of foster care volunteers.

C.A.R.E. seeks foster homes for kittens, puppies, dogs and cats who are awaiting their forever homes.

Interested in fostering? C.A.R.E. foster parents must have their own transportation and live in the North Shore area so animals can be brought to local vets for check-ups and introduced to potential adopters. All basic medical and supply expenses are covered by C.A.R.E. The foster period for the animal will depend greatly on the circumstances for the animal being in foster care. However, the average foster period is about 4 weeks.
