Remembering Pauline Yearwood

Please join us in remembering Pauline Yearwood, who passed away Dec. 22, 2015, from pancreatic cancer. Pauline was a devoted volunteer for C.A.R.E. for 17 years and gave her time selflessly. Most recently, she filled the role of adoption counselor, and helped dozens of homeless cats find adoptive homes. Pauline was a remarkably kind woman, an animal lover and activist, vegan, and a true original. Pauline will be remembered fondly and missed by many.

Support C.A.R.E. on #GIVINGTUESDAY - Tuesday December 1

C.A.R.E. is proud to participate in #GivingTuesday by joining the #ILGive initiative!

We give thanks on Thanksgiving, go to the mall on Black Friday, and browse the web on Cyber Monday. Now, we have a day dedicated to giving back. On #GivingTuesday (this year on December 1), nonprofits, families, businesses, and students around the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

In Illinois, Donors Forum is coordinating this initiative -- #ILGive -- and we have one bold goal: $12 million raised by Illinois nonprofits from 100,000 individual donors -- in one day.

C.A.R.E.'s Pet Food Pantry

C.A.R.E. has partnered with the Irving Park Community Food Pantry since 2011 to supply pet food and supplies for cats and dogs, but also for smaller pets such as birds, ferrets, hamsters, etc. This program ensures that animals are not entering shelters because of financial reasons. We are helping families keep their beloved pets, which is good for the families, the animals and the community. Each week, we help anywhere from 50 to 80 pet owners. We also provide advice regarding pet health and low-cost spay/neuter and vet services.

If you'd like to volunteer or donate to this important cause, read more about the Pet Food Pantry.
