C.A.R.E. Humane Cat Trap and Loan Program

C.A.R.E. has started a program to support TNR volunteers by making traps more easily available.

By reducing the number of homeless outdoor cats, we hope to accomplish the following:

  • improve the lives of homeless cats;

  • lighten the workload of our animal care and control departments, our no-kill adoption shelters, and our independent TNR volunteers;

  • prevent nuisance behaviors such as urine marking and cat fighting in the community;

  • reduce the spread of disease such as feline distemper and rabies; and create a more harmonious bond between cats and humans.

C.A.R.E. has the following types of humane cat traps available for loan:

  • 20 TruCatch 30LTD traps

  • 2 TruCatch 30FCD traps (fat cat traps)

  • 1 Tomahawk DT1 (drop trap for trap savvy cats and multiple kittens)

Guidelines:

  • You may borrow up to five traps at a time for a period of two weeks, with an additional two-week extension if needed, based on availability.

  • We will request a deposit of $100/trap which will be returned when you return the traps in good working condition.

  • These traps are to be used only for free-roaming cats for the purpose of taking them to a reputable clinic or shelter for spay/neuter services, vaccinations, and other necessary veterinary care, or to rescue a lost pet.

  • C.A.R.E. is not financially responsible for any trapped cat, and is not responsible for any misuse of this trap.

  • You will be solely responsible for arranging spay/neuter appointments as well as the cost of the spay/neuter surgery.

  • Trap pick up and return times must be scheduled in advance. Please note, this program is staffed by volunteers. We will do our best to accommodate your time frame.

C.A.R.E. traps were provided by a grant from The Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust, a KeyBank Trust.
