What Does it Mean to be a Foster?
-
Some of the pets who come to us need additional care before becoming adoption-ready. Foster care providers may provide temporary homes for cats and dogs undergoing treatment, recovering from illness or injuries or pets in need of additional behavior support due to their background or difficulty adjusting to the shelter environment.
-
By fostering, you are saving your foster pet’s life and helping to free up space in the adoption center, which gives C.A.R.E. more space to rescue more animals from abandonment and euthanasia.
-
We work with you based on your availability (short-term or long-term).
The foster period for the animal will depend greatly on the circumstances for the animal being in foster care. However, if the animal is not adopted while under your care, we will ensure they are placed with another foster or back at the adoption center until we find their forever home.

Thank you for your interest in opening your home and heart to an animal in need!
Foster care providers must have their own transportation and live in the North Shore area so animals can be brought to local vets for check-ups and introduced to potential adopters. All basic medical and supply expenses are covered by C.A.R.E.
